On 14th April, 2021, the Canadian Government had announced the implementation of their immigration program TR to PR Pathway through their official immigration authority, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. This program was introduced to provide permanent citizenship to foreign workers who were working in Canada to boost the Canadian workforce post-COVID-19.
However, this policy was closed on 5th November 2021, and if you are trying to get your temporary citizenship converted into permanent citizenship, you will need to apply through some other methods to receive approval.
We, Mercury Immigration Consultancy, are here to guide you in every possible way.
What Other TR to PR Pathways Can You Apply Through?
Although the TR to PR pathway has been closed and is no longer relevant, there are many alternative ways to change your citizenship status. Here, we will discuss two major immigration programs that will work as your TR to PR pathway.
The Provincial Nominee Program
The PNP is one effective program through which you can change your temporary residency to permanent residency. This program is designed for those immigrants who have skills, education and the required work experience that can contribute towards the economic progress of Canada.
Under this scheme, different provinces in the country have different eligibility criteria for the candidates seeking to apply for permanent citizenship.
If you want to use the PNP TR to PR Pathway, you need to first select a territory in which you would like to permanently reside and then send your application to the IRCC for their approval.
Tips to Apply for Permanent Residency Through the PNP Program:
- Organize Your Documents
Once you figure out which immigration program will be suitable for you, you will need to fill up an application package issued by the IRCC. From this package, you will get to know about the documents you will need to submit with your application. Make sure all your documents are original and appropriately verified.
- Pay the Fees
While applying for PR through a standard TR to PR Pathway, applicants need to pay an amount of $515 before becoming a permanent resident.
- Mail your application with the relevant documents
Applying through the Express Entry Program
If you are a skilled worker residing in Canada with a temporary residency, you can obtain a permanent residence permit through this TR to PR Pathway. Under this immigration program, you may apply through three categories- Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Program, and Federal Skilled Trades program.
To qualify as an eligible applicant under this immigration program, you need to receive an invitation from the Canadian Government. It is necessary for you to submit your application within 60 days of receiving this invitation. Once it exceeds 60 days, the validity of the invitation expires.
Things to Keep in Mind While Applying for PR through the EE Program
- You need to create an IRCC account and get access to it by completing all the necessary formalities.
- Fill up all the necessary forms carefully and correctly
- Get your documents ready, every single piece mentioned in the application form.
- Scan your documents and upload
